Kruger National Park Safari Packages
Explore the wonder and beauty of Kruger National Park, one of the world's most famous parks for safari game drives, located in gorgeous South Africa. Kruger National Park is about a 5 hour drive from Johannesburg.
In this park, you are likely to see a huge array of animals, perhaps even spotting all of the traditional "big five": rhinoceros, leopard, lion, elephant, and cape buffalo. Birds abound, and you never know what you might see around the next bend!
Our Kruger safari packages range in length from 2 days to 7 days and can be customized and lengthened upon request.
We offer chalet accommodations as well as camping options. If you desire something more luxurious, please contact us and we can arrange something special just for you!
Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park
Accommodations: Either chalet, fixed tent, or camping
Meals: Dinner (including wine)
You will be picked up in Johannesburg between 6:30 - 8:00AM and begin the journey to Kruger National Park. We will stop for lunch along the way (at your own expense). After reaching the camp site in the afternoon, you will be given ample time to settle in before heading out on your first game drive this evening. This will be a rare sunset game drive with an official park ranger, using Kruger Park's own vehicles. Unofficial vehicles are not allowed to operate after sunset, so this tour will give you the unique opportunity to see some of the nocturnal animals that call Kruger National Park their home. Note that this tour may be joined by other people who are not on your tour. After the game drive, weather permitting, we will dine outdoors and enjoy nature at our camp site, discussing today's experience with our fellow travelers. Wine will be served, but you are welcome to bring other drinks that can be purchased at the Kruger gift shop.
Additional days in Kruger
Accommodations: Either chalet, fixed tent, or camping
Meals: Morning snack, brunch, dinner (wine with dinner)
All full days in Kruger National Park will follow a very similar itinerary:
Each morning, get up early for the first game drive of the day. You will be given a light snack of tea or coffee and rusks (dried bread) to dunk into your beverage. This will be followed by the game drive which will last 3-4 hours. All game drives use specially adapted 4x4 vehicles that are essentially open air, giving all guests the best possible view, no matter the seat.
Upon returning to the camp site, a filling brunch will be served. After this, you will have time to relax and do as you please. There will be opportunities to visit the Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Library, swim in the pool, browse the park's shop, walk around the camp, watch for many of the birds that make their home here, and enjoy peaceful views of the Sabie River from the restaurant.
The afternoon game drive will again last for several hours, giving you more opportunity to see more amazing wildlife.
Dinner will again be served al fresco, weather permitting. You will have the chance to relax, unwind, and compare notes with your fellow travelers.
Note: For travelers on 5 day safaris and longer, a Bush Walk is included. You can take this early morning walk one day in place of a game drive on one of the mornings. Walks are conducted by park rangers. This is not a major game viewing opportunity, but a chance to learn more about the park in general. This options is only available for travelers over the age of 12 years.
Final day: Return to Johannesburg
Meals: Breakfast
For travelers who have stayed for more than two days, you will have two options: Either stay in Kruger and enjoy one more game drive for several hours this morning, or travel slowly back to Johannesburg via the Panoramic Route which will include several stops in scenic locations and a mini guided tour of this area before returning to Johannesburg.
For guests opting to do another game drive, the journey back to Johannesburg will be via the quickest route possible and will not include the Panorama Route. Breakfast will be served at camp after the game drive.
If you opt for the Panorama Route, this includes a slower-paced journey back to Johannesburg, traveling through some of the most scenic countryside in this region. The journey out of the park will take 1.5 - 2 hours so you will still have a chance to view more wildlife from the airconditioned, enclosed vehicle. Along the way, visit several attractions that are part of the Panorama Route, including Blyde River Canyon (third largest canyon in the world) and the scenic points of the Three Rondavels, Lisbon Waterfalls and God's Window, a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Lowveld from the escarpment. You will stop for breakfast (included) at a restaurant during the scenic drive.
While returning to Johannesburg, there will be a break for lunch, at your own expense. Because the journey back to Johannesburg will take at least 6 hours, you are strongly advised to spend the night in Johannesburg before journeying onto your next destination whether you opt for the additional game drive or for the Panorama Route. If you must travel on the same day, we recommend not scheduling domestic flights any earlier than 7:00PM, and international flights not earlier than 8:00PM. Note: ** WorldwideXplorer and it's affiliates are not responsible if you book travel on the same day and miss your connection!
